Bernie Ecclesone and Monza’s managers have signed a new deal which will keep the Italian Grand Prix at Monza until at least 2016.

The current contract was due to expire in 2012 and terms for a 4 year extension were agreed.

Much like Silverstone, Monza’s future seemed uncertain especially with recent talks about a new race Formula 1 Grand Prix race in Rome.

The deal is very important for the thousands of Ferrari fans who see the legendary track is their home.

Last year’s race was dominated by Brown GP and won by Rubens Barrichello.

Although the 2010 race at Monza is a few months away, Ferrari look very sharp this season and a home one-two will be a dream come true for Alonso and Massa.
