German Grand Prix 2010 – Qualifying

The German Grand Prix is back at Hockenheim in 2010. This has always been a popular event, especially so in recent years thanks to Michael Schumacher and all the other German drivers on the grid.

The future of the even may be in uncertain but one thing is for sure, thousands of F1 fans will fill the stands at Hockenheim hoping for another memorable race in 2010.

German Grand Prix 2010 Tickets are on sale now.

What fans say about Hockenheim:

“We went to Hockenheim in 2006, viewing from the pits straight grandstand. Hockenheim is quite flat so you don’t see a great amount of the track but by standing at the top of the grandstand you can see across to Sachskurve and many people took advantage of this. Tickets in this grandstand were 150 euros for the weekend.”

“Do not camp at the circuit campsites unless you like not washing for three days and listening to German drinking songs at 4am”

German Grand Prix

The first ever German Grand Prix was organized back in 1926, but because of Germany’s expulsion from international events after the WWII, the German GP didn’t return to the Formula 1 calendar until 1951.

There was a controversy about the name of the event in 2009 because it took place at Nürburgring while the Hockenheim holds the rights to the German Grand Prix.

German Grand Prix 2010 is back at Hockenheim but the future of the event remains uncertain because the organisers, city and state officials are unhappy about the high fees demanded by Bernie Ecclestone.

Michael Schumacher is the driver with the most wins, 4 in total – 1995, 2002, 2004, 2006.

German GP – Hamilton Stays Fastest

McLaren’s Lewis Hamilton again topped the timesheets in Saturday morning’s final practice session for the German Grand Prix at the Nurburgring, two-tenths of a second faster than Renault’s Fernando Alonso.

Running with a new aerodynamic package the Briton was quickest on Friday and he maintained his good form as he clocked one minute 31.121 seconds.

The Renault of Fernando Alonso was second and Ferrai’s Felipe Massa third.

Championship leader Jenson Button was down in 11th as the drivers struggled for grip in the cold conditions.

This morning’s session again took place in cold (12C) and overcast conditions, although this time the rain held off throughout the hour.

Ferrari have also come to Germany having made a few aerodynamic tweaks and they too appeared to pay dividends with both drivers in the top six.

But it was a different story for leading constructor Brawn GP as Button complained of being unable to get any heat into his front tyres.

The Briton’s team-mate, Rubens Barrichello, also struggled as he finished down in 14th.

Title is ‘Button’s to lose now’

Mark Webber says the Formula 1 world title is Jenson Button‘s to lose as the Brawn GP driver prepares to take a 23-point lead into the German Grand Prix 2009.

The Englishman has won six of the first eight races, and Webber says only mechanical problems can deny him now.

“I don’t see Button losing the fight himself,” Webber told BBC Sport.

“He’s been so impressively consistent and just doesn’t make mistakes. If he loses the title now, it will be down to a problem from the team, not him.”

Red Bull’s Sebastian Vettel is the only other driver to take the chequered flag this season, winning in wet conditions in China and at Silverstone where Brawn GP struggled with lower track temperatures.

But Webber believes Button, who holds a 28.5-point advantage over him and a 25-point lead over Vettel, has built a big enough cushion to protect his position in the final nine races.

Button has such a big lead that he can afford not to win points in a few races and still stay ahead,” said the Australian, who has been on the podium four times in 2009.
