Canadian Grand Prix Experience:

“Worried at first booking tickets with a company I knew nothing about but all went wonderfully. Make sure you read all the useful circuit advice, good directions to the stands on the book F1 website. Seats were good with a great view. Stand 31 is quick to get to and the undergroung trip was easy to the circuit. ”
Robert Bartlett (Bronze 31)

“The only hiccup was the ticket booth providing me with Silver seats on Friday vs. the Gold one I had purchased. The other attendee who had the exact same ticket accompanied me to the ticket counter and we straightened it out. The spelling of my first name was incorrectly spelled Haidi vs. Heidi on the Gold Tickets envelope waiting for me at the booth. It all turned out pleasant and made some new friends from London due to the mix up. ”
Championfan (Gold 2)

“Circuit is very clean and well planned out. Travel to and from circuit is very easy ”
Sue (Bronze 34)

“The circuit is one of the easiest to access from the city as Montreal has an excellent Metro system. We were back in our hotel 25 mins. after leaving the track.

You are allowed to bring your own food and liquor into the grounds which very few tracks allow. Didn’t try any of the food there but the beer was approx. $6.50 .

We were happy with our seats which were right after the hairpin bend and just before the straight. ”
Aileen McBrearty (Bronze 22)

“Information received on-line was extremely useful. Link to Montreal Metro site allowed effective planning for journey in advance however the route was well signed.

Helpful staff advised me to peurchase multiple day ticket which was very cheap. Access to/from the circuir was efficient even with masses of people leaving after the final race due to good event management.

As you would expect everything purchsed at the circuit is at inflated price (to be expected with a captive audience). If you want to avoid this take your own provisions. Take water-proof equipment and seat pad for additional comfort. Binoculars are useful to read placings etc on large screens. ”
Chris Allmond (Silver 11)

Fan Reviews:

“Sections count left to right if you are facing the stand. Lower number have a view through the trees – higher number a great view right around the Senna curve but less of the main straight. Still a super location regardless – you will enjoy the whole Montreal experience – and make sure you walk back to the Metro along the track on Sunday after the race – one of the great things about Montreal is that they open the gates onto the track for the fans after the race.

From stands 11/12 it’s a fantastic opportunity to walk round half the circuit and see the paint, rubber and scrapes left behind on the track and barriers on the way back to the train station!”
30 Jun 2010, Geoff

“So pleased this race is back in the calendar! When I’ve gone to races in the past I usually only go to the main Sunday race but this time I bought a 3 day ticket which was fantastic. There was so much going on at the track every day.

The view from our stand (Gold 2) was superb. Our seats overlooked the starting grid (roughly position 14/15) and we had a clear view of the pits. It was really easy to get to the track and the set up/amenities were first class.

Top Tips
For anyone booking this stand next year – it is one of the furthest away so allow a little extra time to get there. There is a roughly a 20 min walk when you come out of the metro station.

Accommodation – stay around the Latin Quarter in Montreal. The track is only one stop on the Metro from there.”
29 Jun 2010, Stewart

“This was the third time I visited the Montreal Grand prix and am happy to have the event back!

Having said that the price of food and beverages sold compared to the quality served doesn’t match. Being sat within the Gold 1 area and having access to the VIP reserved area was a disappointment; I paid $500 per ticket and had to drink a bad glass of wine served at the wrong temperature. Come on organizers, your guests know a little about wine….

Smoking must be banned from all stands, it is both a fire hazard and health hazard. The large screens need to be improved upon, we have a better set-up at home.

In my opinion when we purchase our tickets on-line we should be able to choose our tickets, unlike the lucky draw currently.

The portable toilets should be cleaned much more frequently, the smell was disgusting.

Overall my wife and I enjoyed the weekend and will be back in the future.”

Lewis Hamilton wins Canadian Grand Prix in Montreal

Hamilton leads another McLaren 1-2

McLaren’s Lewis Hamilton claimed his second consecutive win and the world title lead with a perfectly judged drive in an engrossing, strategically framed Canadian Grand Prix.

The 2008 world champion withstood pressure from Fernando Alonso for much of the race, adroitly managed severe tyre wear in the early stages, and emphatically put paid to a late challenge from team-mate Jenson Button with two blistering laps just when he needed an extra burst of speed. read full story

McLaren one-two in Montreal thriller

Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button in their McLaren MP4-25s turned the world championship fight on its head in Montreal on Sunday afternoon, when they scored the team’s third one-two of the season after a tense race in which nobody was able to relax.

Soon it became apparent that those who had gambled on soft rubber in qualifying were in trouble: Button, Hamilton and Alonso all pitted for the harder Bridgestones within seven laps. read full story

Canadian Grand Prix

The Canadian Grand Prix has a long history in Formula 1 with the first race dating way back in 1961.

Bowmanville, Ontario and Circuit Mont-Tremblant, Quebec hosted the first races until finally the Canadian Grand Prix moved to its current home on Île Notre-Dame in Montreal.

In 2005 Canadian GP set an astonishing record. It became not only the most watched Formula 1 race of the year, but also the 3rd most watched sports event overall.

Sadly, a couple of years later FIA decided to drop the Canadian Grand Prix and the race did not feature on the F1 2009 Calendar. In fact there was not a single F1 Grand Prix race in North America that season.

The good news is that the Canadian Grand Prix is back in 2010. The provisional dates for the race are 11 – 13 June 2010.

Michael Schumacher has more Canadian GP wins than any other F1 – seven (1994, 1997, 1998, 2000, 2002, 2003, 2004), Nelson Piquet not even a close second with only 3 (1982, 1984, 1991).
