Lewis Hamilton wins Canadian Grand Prix in Montreal

Lewis Hamilton led Jenson Button to a McLaren one-two in a thrilling Canadian Grand Prix after a race-long five-car battle in Montreal.

Hamilton fought with Ferrari’s Fernando Alonso throughout, but the Spaniard lost out to Button with 14 laps to go. read full story

Hamilton leads another McLaren 1-2

McLaren’s Lewis Hamilton claimed his second consecutive win and the world title lead with a perfectly judged drive in an engrossing, strategically framed Canadian Grand Prix.

The 2008 world champion withstood pressure from Fernando Alonso for much of the race, adroitly managed severe tyre wear in the early stages, and emphatically put paid to a late challenge from team-mate Jenson Button with two blistering laps just when he needed an extra burst of speed. read full story

McLaren one-two in Montreal thriller

Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button in their McLaren MP4-25s turned the world championship fight on its head in Montreal on Sunday afternoon, when they scored the team’s third one-two of the season after a tense race in which nobody was able to relax.

Soon it became apparent that those who had gambled on soft rubber in qualifying were in trouble: Button, Hamilton and Alonso all pitted for the harder Bridgestones within seven laps. read full story

Lewis Hamilton led a McLaren one-two after an extraordinary clash between Red Bull’s Mark Webber and Sebastian Vettel at the Turkish Grand Prix.

The incident happened on lap 40 of 58 when Vettel flew off the track after colliding with Webber in an attempt to take the lead from his team-mate. read full story

Hamilton wins thrilling Turkish GP

Lewis Hamilton outduelled McLaren team-mate Jenson Button – and profited from a dramatic collision between Red Bull duo Mark Webber and Sebastian Vettel – to take his first victory of 2010 in breathtaking style at Istanbul Park.

Polesitter Webber led the majority of the race, but was hotly pursued by Hamilton until the pit stops, when Vettel relegated the 2008 world champion to third place and closed onto his team-mate’s gearbox. read full story

Race – McLaren one-two as Red Bulls tangle in Turkey

t seemed the McLaren duo had been handed the race on a plate but the drama wasn’t over. There was a small amount of rain, but around this time the McLaren drivers were also told to conserve fuel. Button sliced into Hamilton’s lead and got a similar run on him going into Turn 12 on Lap 48. But he was on the outside, and as Hamilton hung tough on the inside they went side by side through that corner. And 13. And 14. read full story

Mark Webber produced a superb display to storm to victory for Red Bull in an incident-packed Monaco Grand Prix.

For the second consecutive race, Webber won from pole, controlling the race to win from team-mate Sebastian Vettel.

Renault’s Robert Kubica took third, with Ferrari’s Felipe Massa fourth ahead of McLaren’s Lewis Hamilton.

Ferrari’s Fernando Alonso was pipped to sixth by Michael Schumacher but the Mercedes driver was later penalised 20 seconds for an illegal overtaking move. read full story

This is what Webber had to say:
“It’s a special day, the greatest day of my life I suppose. As a Formula One driver you really hope that you win races and if you have a choice then the blue riband event is very, very special for any driver. To join Ayrton Senna and the likes round here is a very special thing. The last few laps are intense. Jenson actually said to me on the parade lap that when you’re leading with a few laps to go, it looks like the track’s narrowing and the barriers are coming closer and closer.

Fifteen laps from the end, that’s just what it was like. A one-two finish for the team here is such a feather in their cap, it’s incredible. The safety cars weren’t a great situation to have – you do all the hard work, get away and risk some pretty quick lap times to increase the gap and then you have a safety car which neutralises it and all the fast guys are back on your wheel again. It’s very difficult when it’s like that, but that’s part of the driver’s role – to stay composed and get the job done.

To get 50 points from the last two races is awesome, but there is a long, long way still to go. We’ve got so many different conditions and tracks coming up – there are many exciting times to come; I’m looking forward to it.”

Formula 1 fans reviews of Monaco Grand Prix

“Had a great weekend, we has both seats and GA, seats on Sat and GA in the Rocher , although we were not as comfortable on the Sunday, the view was excellent and also the big screen was very good.”

“It was an unforgettable weekend, it was very enjoyable. We were in stand P on Thurs, B on Sat & K on Sun. We were satisfied with the stands but my husband said If we can manage to go again he would like to choose better seats within the stands,. He was thrilled with the present and the help and advice I had from your company was excellant. The tickets arrived in plenty of time. We would certainly use you again.”

“Indescribable weekend, absolutely fantastic, trip of a lifetime.
Shame about the seats in Tribune P, not much to see.
and the big screen to the left of us was obscured by supports from the stand
it was attached to. Would look for better viewing seats in the future.”

The current contract was due to expire in 2012 and terms for a 4 year extension were agreed.

Much like Silverstone, Monza’s future seemed uncertain especially with recent talks about a new race Formula 1 Grand Prix race in Rome.

The deal is very important for the thousands of Ferrari fans who see the legendary track is their home.

Last year’s race was dominated by Brown GP and won by Rubens Barrichello.

Although the 2010 race at Monza is a few months away, Ferrari look very sharp this season and a home one-two will be a dream come true for Alonso and Massa.

In 2009 the Brazilian Grand Prix will not be the last one on the Formula 1 calendar, but lets hope it will be as exciting as the 2008 race.

There were speculations that Massa will be racing again sooner than expected and may be make a surprised return to F1 for his home race in Brazil.

However, after ruling out a return at the Brazilian Grand Prix, a race he won last year, Massa will instead wave the chequered flag at Interlagos alongside football legend Pele and supermodel Gisele Bundchen.

Brand new circuit? Has it been designed by Hermann Tilke? Of course it has! He has tried to add a pinch of Monaco and a dash of Spa, but time will tell if he has indeed been successful.

It has been reported that it may in fact be another night race, but nothing has been confirmed so far.

One thing is for sure (for now), it will be the last race of the season and knowing how things get organized in the Middle East, it should be a spectacle!

Some call the Japanese Grand Prix the ‘title decider’. Often being the last race of the season, or at the end of the Formula 1 calendar at least, this even has decided no fewer than 11 titles.

For nearly 80% of the time, the Formula 1 drivers are at full throttle and although most achieve good lap times relatively easy, in order to be competitive, they really have to show skill and have great engines of course.

With only three corners worth mentioning, one of which being the famous Parabolica, most drivers find overtaking to be quite difficult at Monza.

The high speed and heavy braking, quite often result in bad accidents and unfortunately Monza has been the scene of a few tragedies.

Still, fast laps, raving engines and a sea of Tifosi with Ferrari flags!
