Canadian Grand Prix
The Canadian Grand Prix has a long history in Formula 1 with the first race dating way back in 1961.
Bowmanville, Ontario and Circuit Mont-Tremblant, Quebec hosted the first races until finally the Canadian Grand Prix moved to its current home on Île Notre-Dame in Montreal.
In 2005 Canadian GP set an astonishing record. It became not only the most watched Formula 1 race of the year, but also the 3rd most watched sports event overall.
Sadly, a couple of years later FIA decided to drop the Canadian Grand Prix and the race did not feature on the F1 2009 Calendar. In fact there was not a single F1 Grand Prix race in North America that season.
The good news is that the Canadian Grand Prix is back in 2010. The provisional dates for the race are 11 – 13 June 2010.
Michael Schumacher has more Canadian GP wins than any other F1 – seven (1994, 1997, 1998, 2000, 2002, 2003, 2004), Nelson Piquet not even a close second with only 3 (1982, 1984, 1991).
